Singapore 1A
Ds is almost finished with Singapore 1A we are on page 110 today. On this page he is given addition and subtraction problems in the teens without any pictures. Is he supposed to be able to do those in his head without manipulatives at this point? If so we are in trouble because he definitely needs the manipulatives for those. He can do problems adding or subtracting 1 or 2 and addition or subraction with sums under ten but the teens he still needs manipulatives.
Re: Singapore 1A
My son did the same page this week. The Beyond manual does say to use manipulatives (counters) as needed to complete the lesson. Mine needs that too!!

I agree with the pp. Use the manipulatives as much as he needs right now. It's learning the concept of the math that's important (the why behind the how) at these young ages.

Yes, definitely use the manipulatives as needed! We are expecting that you will need to use them.
