we use the box system from a web site I found. Basically you take a recipie box, make dividers for every day of the week, plus day of the month, plus ones that say, "daily" "odd" "even."
We put the verse on an index card, put it in the "daily" section. then once or twice day we read the verse-that's it. Just read it. Then when you can say almost all of it without looking (pretty close to memorized) you move it back to the next section "odd" those are things you read on odd days. Then you move it back to a day of the week, then you move it back to a day of the month.
We use our for more then verses-my boys use it for their times tables, things like the Lord's Prayer, the Apostles Creed, the books of the bible, grammar rules, spelling words, everything they need to commit to memory.
So, for today, Jamie (9) did his daily slot, his odd slot, his Wednesday slot, and his 19 slot. there's not much in his yet, but as we add to it I'm sure it will fill up quickly!
It's nice as we move things back that once a month we are reviewing things we talked about before, so it keeps it fresher in their mind.
It was awesome that the spelling list idea in our Bigger was to write them on index cards! worked in perfectly with our system!
