Just to say......

Post by striving2Bprov31 » Mon Nov 01, 2010 8:41 am

Dear All,

Just wanted to say hello because I don't have anything too major to share. I am beginning Little Hearts today with my ds4. I am just doing half speed for now, and mainly just for fun because the book choices are so good. The activities are fun for him and easy for me!! I am not using any text for math-only the activities. I am also not using a formal handwriting book yet ( I am using handwriting without tears preschool in its place-very informal). Also, since I feel it is too soon for formal reading instruction I am using Language and Thinking for Young Children by Ruth Beechick in place of phonics. That is the beauty of LHFHG!! You can make substitutions and still get the full enjoyment of the program!! This morning his mouth was hanging open after listening to how Granny Fox tricked Reddy Fox into crossing the bridge!! :)

Hope everyone has a good day!! My friend homeschooled her now grown boys for 25 years. She says that a great day of homeschooling means that no major disasters happen!!:):) I used to not understand that but now I know what she means!

If you are struggling in your attitude today (like I often do), read Isaiah 50:7. If you are too busy to look it up right now then I will just share it with you. "Because the Lord helps me, I will not be dismayed. Therefore, I will set my face like a flint to do His will and know that I will triumph." This one ALWAYS helps me!

Welcome! It sounds like you have an excellent plan for a 4yr old. You will enjoy Little Hearts, we certainly did.

I'm glad you are enjoying LHFHG. That Granny Fox was one sly lady. My boys LOVED those books. I'm looking forward to doing them one more time with my last little pumpkin. It is always good to have a Bible verse handy when homeschooling - that's a great one! Thanks for sharing here! :D

Sounds like you are enjoying LHFHG! We did it when my oldest was 4.5 and loved it. It's such a sweet, gentle program.

Welcome and I am glad you and your little one are enjoying LHFHG. We started just a few weeks ago and are taking it at half pace as well, with my 5 yr old. We do it all and he loves it. He loves to read about Reddy Fox and does not like it that Reddy did not tell Granny the truth! Today was cute, just like Peter Rabbit he felt sorry for Reddy that he was hurt even though he was bragging! :D
Enjoy and I am looking forward to hearing more of how your little one is doing along this journey. :D :D

Thank you for the encouragement from Isaiah 50:7 :D :D
