I know you can use other genre books, mainly from the sample book list in addition to the recommended books for the program. But is the recommended books for DITHOR that you buy with DITHOR on the site the ones that work the best with the program? Because I know that sometimes, even though you have the right genre, that it doesn't always work out.
Also, the book packs are no longer available, but the site says something else may be substitued in September. Anybody know what it is? Nosey HOD user wants to know.

That's the "Book Projects to Send Home" book with an optional project to use every genre in it. It's out of print and should be substituted this year. The packs of books you can purchase are still there!
http://www.heartofdakota.com/drawn-into.php You can see them by clicking on the Optional Book packs for level 2/3, 4/5 or 5/6 at the top of the page.
We've liked using the book packs. They're excellent choices!! We used the level 2 pack, and then jumped to the boy 4/5 pack as that's what my son was ready for. As a new DITHOR user, I liked that the book pacing was scheduled for me. It told me whether to have Grant read the book for 15 days, 10 days, 5 days. Now we're hooked because the books are great...and it's still easier than hunting for my own good choices.

annaz,
Kathleen already did a great job of answering your questions!

I'll just pop-in to update that we have made a decision at long last about the Book Projects to Send Home by having a special printing of these books run purely for Heart of Dakota. We are thrilled that the Book Projects to Send Home will be back in stock for us in 6 weeks or so with levels 2, 4, and 5 available on our website! This will make it tremendously easy for anyone who has previously purchased a DITHR guide to use these fabulous project books. We couldn't be more pleased!
Blessings,
Carrie

Carrie--would we use the Level 5 with our DITHOR 6/7/8? That book looks so good, I would love to get it!

Heather,
Yes! You are right! Level 5 is scheduled in the DITHR Teacher's Guide to be used with 6/7/8 just because it is so good!
Blessings,
Carrie

I'm going to have to get the level 4 & 5 books. We've loved the level 2 one!

I was ready to order now (before the baby comes & I forget!

), but I don't see them up yet...

I'm sure I'll remember!

Carrie, you said the "Book Projects to Send Home" were back in stock for 6 weeks or so? I can't find it on the main page to order. Did I already miss out, or just not looking in the right place?
Thanks for your help.

Kirsten,
You may have already seen the other post, but Carrie just posted the other day about the cost and this is what she said:
We will carry all 3 levels that are scheduled within the Drawn into the Heart of Reading Teacher's Guide. These levels include 2, 4, and 5. We have the books in-house now, so they are available for purchase. Call to order if you need them before we get them up on our website. It is looking like the price will be $9.95 per book.
Blessings,
Carrie
