Just wanted to share some sweet stuff from today.
We were all outside on the swing reading from "Stories of the Pilgrims" in Beyond and when I finished, both of my sons said, "Awwww...we want you to keep going!" This is a daily occurence. Also, during our Storytime reading of "Squanto" the said the same thing!
Plus, my almost 4 year old daughter reminded me, "Are we going to sing our song? The C-C-C song?" This is in LHTH.
Also, it is not difficult or a struggle to get my oldest 9, to do his reading assignment. He really likes reading about Amelia Earhart. He says she is adventurous like he is! At first, he was SO puzzled as to why a girl would want balls and bats and boy stuff for toys instead of dolls, etc. He was blown away! I guess this book is great for breaking down some gender stereotypes as well!
I can't say enough good things about the curriculum. I am so glad I made the choice to purchase this. My first 3 weeks of H'schooling have been a delight, and I am so thankful for that. Now, we don't always get every block done (we missed the art on Tues. and the science experiment today) but we will make up for it. I feel like there is so much in HOD that even if we miss a little, we are still getting SO much!
Just wanted to share that with everyone. Blessings!

I had the same experience today. We were reading The Railway Children this afternoon, and my kids begged for another chapter! Isn't it great that our kids are enjoying school?
We love HOD!

This does my heart good to hear. HOD is a delight to teach and to learn from if we can just let it be!
A happy mama, cheerful dc, a teachable spirit, and a dedication to work all go a long way to making homeschooling a hit. You have those all nailed down. Thanks for sharing, and blessings to you (and to fivelittlepeaches) as you enjoy your HOD journey with your precious dc!

Julie

When my ds6 sees the Beyond books come out for the day, he always says, "YAY!!!!! It is time for my good books!" He absolutely loves HOD. (and so do I)

Tina,
I absolutely love the image of you reading to your kiddos on the porch swing! I would desperately love one myself.
I'm so glad that you are enjoying your school days and that your kiddos are loving their books! My kiddos did too.
Thanks for encouraging others, as starting anything new always has a learning curve.
Blessings,
Carrie
