How many sheet protectors per subject?

Post by janie_ranae » Wed Aug 25, 2010 12:33 pm

I am organzing supplies for bigger and frequently referring to a great post from Julie on how she did this. (If you read this Julie - thanks!!) In it she mentions counting out the plastic sleeves needed for the different units (Poetry Copywork, History Notebooking, Science Notebooking, and Science Experiments). I was wondering (Julie or anyone else) if someone knows the amount that belong in each section... :D

I was just trying to figure this out myself as I'm trying to get notebooks set up for Bigger as well. I think that there is one poem each week, one notebook entry for History for each unit, one notebook entry for Science, and one written Science experiment for each unit so that would be 34 page protectors for each one of those sections for a total of 136 page protectors. I guess that would be if only one page goes in each protector. If each entry just took one side of the page then it would be possible to double up in each page protector and use 1/2 that amount. Hmmm, I wonder if we need to have 34 in each section or if it might work out that we can double up? :?

We are doing Bigger and have been since last year. We are going 1/2 pace all the way and loving it. :D We are using 1 page protector per unit for science, so I put in 34 in that section. I use 1 page protector for 2 units for the history notebooking. I put them back to back. So I have 17 page protectors in that section.
We don't do the copy work for poetry as of yet. Working on some fine motor activities to help improve handwriting. :P :P So, I use a poetry booklet and keep it all together that way. If you wish to put the poetry in page protectors you can again do 2 units in 1 page protector. :D
Hope this helps :D

Thank you! That really helps to know that we can double up. I was wondering if I would have to go out and get more page protectors, now I think I am set.

Janie, I think we will be starting Bigger almost the same day. We're planning on starting the day after Labor Day! :D
