34 lb HOD box - no prob for 5 & 8 yo!

Post by Tabitha » Sun Aug 22, 2010 1:29 pm

We came home from a Bible study on Friday to find our HOD box on the front porch. It's 34 lbs.

My 5yo and 8yo were screaming with excitement. Mind you, there was only 1-2 books for them in the box. All the rest was the CTC sets for their 11yo sister. They wanted the box IN the house. I told them to wait and I would get it shortly.

I hear all this noise. The 5yo and 8yo (very runty gal) are scooting, attempting to lift, running into the door, smashing feet, all while trying to get the box over the doorstep and into the house. They were breaking a nice sweat, and puffing heavily. Whew - they got it in!

I asked them to just leave it by the door, and I would open it in a minute. I go into another room to finish some work. All the sudden it sounds like a bomb was going off in our house. There was all this loud banging and the girls were making every noise you can think of.

They shoved the box across the room, tipped it down 1-2 steps, and were end over end "rolling" this big 34 lb box to me!

I guess they really want it open to get out their math and handwriting books!

I was very thankful that the box was packaged very well, thanks to S.A. :-), and that it survived the brutality of my 5 and 8 yo girls.

Who is mommy to tell the girls to wait a second on "box day."

This is absolutely hilarious! :D My hubby allowed our boys, who do much of our shipping in the warehouse, to read your post last night and they were doubled over with laughter picturing this. We have our own 4 and just turned 8 year old at our house too, so our 11 and 14 year olds could truly picture what you described in their minds clearly! :D

Thanks for sharing! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

So, Tabitha, did you jump out of the way in time? So glad to hear that everyone was so excited for their new books in your house! :D

Carrie - I bet Shaw will be thinking of this bouncing box as he's carefully packing away for quite a while! :D
