Okay, so now I have a LHFHG question. :)

Okay, so now I have a LHFHG question. :)

Post by MamaPajama » Fri Jul 16, 2010 7:45 pm

DH and I did go ahead and purchase LHFHG today. (Though I accidently ordered the wrong Bible and have called and emailed hoping I can get it changed before it ships.) I looked at the sneak peek of the guide and noticed that the 1st grade materials aren't necessarily listed, namely the Thinking Skills book, 101 Bible Stories, and Our Father's World. Is there place in the appendix where it addresses those books and where they fit into the schedule?

Thanks in advance!

They are listed right in the guide. For example in the "Language Arts" box there will be instructions for "K" options and for "1st" options. Same with the Bible - it gives page #'s for both Bibles in the instruction box.
For the 1st grade science and math though, the "box" instructions only cover the K level but the assignment list for first is in the appendix and easy to use. (if I remember correctly!)
You will love LHFHG. I used it for my oldest son's K and 1st grade and it was great.
Hope this helps.

I sent a reply on your Help? thread about the same time you sent this. I also bought Beyond and then switched to LHFHG. Since you have the Beyond guide, you will have the math activities to go with Primary Math 1A and 1B if that is what you are using. Also, you can still use the science activities in the box with Our Father's World.

mamayi: Has the guide been updated since the "look inside" link was put on the main page? I see The World God Made, The Family Time Bible, and Do It Carefully listed in the first week, but not the first grade options.

Pam- Thank you for your response to both posts. (I just read your other one.) I was teetering back and forth between programs so much that it does bring me peace to go with the easier of the two. Like you said, I'm confident he can do LHFHG at full speed without any problem, and be on track for Beyond next year. :D

Khara,
I know the question wasn't directed to me, but all the first grade options are there. Thinking skills is definitely included in the boxes. Our Father's World schedule is in the appendix, and the schedule for 101 Favorite Stories from the Bible is in the front of the guide. If using Grade 1 Singapore Math, you can use your Beyond guide to follow Carrie's activities to correspond with that. Otherwise, the schedule for Primary Math 1A & 1B is also in the appendix.HTH

Thanks! We are using another math program, so that's not an issue. But what about A Reason for Handwriting A? I forgot to ask about that one.

Yes, Book A is included in the box, as pages for Book K or Book A. I am using HWT for at least this year, so I'm on my own in that one. A Reason For Handwriting looks good, but I want to see how dd does with her writing this year. That has always been a struggle for her. Well, it sounds like you are covered for 1st. Have a great year!
