Bible Dictionary?
Bible Dictionary?
Hi Everyone!
I was just reading through my CTC teacher guide and noticed that it recommended using a good Bible Dictionary. I don't have one and was wondering if someone can suggest a good one to use?
Thanks so much!
In Christ,
Lisa

Re: Bible Dictionary?
I know, I know, I'm posting a reply to my own question. I've done a little searching and am pretty sure of what I will get. Rainbow Resource has a Student Bible Dictionary based on the King James and appears to be very good. It is only about seven dollars or so. I think I will get this one, unless someone can suggest something better?
Thanks~!

Re: Bible Dictionary?
We have a bunch of this kind of stuff and I am sorry we just sort of use it all but I will list some of it. The Student Bible Dictionary by Dockrey and Godwin (probably what you are after )also Who, What Where In the Bible, Victory Journey Through the Bible, The Strong's, Vines, and the Encyclopedia of Bible Words. I think the first one is the most likely best fit. If Carrie has a suggestion that is going to be the best. My feeling is you can never have too many tools on hand for them to explore. But if you are after just one thing the first one I listed would probably be it for HOD but keep in mind there is also always the internet if something you need is not in there. I find nothing has everything in it and I guess that is why we have lots of these kinds of things on hand along with lots of commentary and other tools. For HOD though the first one and the internet would be definitely enough. HTH.
My one catch is if Carrie has a recommendation then that is the one to get.

It sounds like you've already found some great options! We've enjoyed the International Children's Bible Dictionary. It isn't full color though.

Re: Bible Dictionary?
Thank you for these recommendations. My son has asked for a Bible Dictionary and I have no idea which one to get. My son only wants to use the KJV of the Bible. (I prefer NIV or NKJV, but he only wants KJV) Are the ones recommended here (Student Bible Dictionary by Godwin and Dockery and International Children's Bible Dictionary) good for using with KJV?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: Bible Dictionary?
Donna,
The Student Bible Dictionary by Godwin and Dockery is for the KJV, but can also be used with any version.

Awesome! Sounds like that is the one I need to get then. (I re-read the posts above and now see it was mentioned that it used the KJV! Sorry I didn't notice that before....
