CTC RA's

Could someone here please give me some examples of the violent content that I might find in the CTC basic package? Instead of reading aloud, I will probably be having my son (11) just read these books, and I'm debating between these or the boy interest set. Also, does anyone see why it would be a bad idea for him to read these books (from either the basic or boy set) to himself instead of doing them as read alouds. I already have read alouds from a different program that I'll be doing to all of my children, so I'm basically just looking for some good books for my son to read through.

I just re-glanced at the history package and I didn't see what reading levels the books were...please let me know if you think they are above a 5th grade level.
