Singapore Math in Bigger Appendix?

I will be using bigger with my 4th grader. He has been using Abeka but since Singapore is recommended, I looked at Singapore and think he will be ok with Singapore 4A/4B. My question, does Bigger have assignments for 4A/4B in the appendix?

Saving my pennies for the Bigger Textbook which would probably answer all my questions.

Thanks for your help ladies, I am getting excited about the new school year already.

Hi-there will be a schedule for 4A and 4B in the new guide, Preparing, but it's not in Bigger. Please make sure you have him take the placement test before you decide on a level. Singapore is so different from other programs-the placement test is very accurate, and starting in the right level is very important! My 4th grader placed in 3A coming from having finished Making Math Meaningful 3 by Cornerstone, but your child could be different-it's worth taking the time to have him do the test

I agree about taking the placement test for Singapore. My son will be starting '5th grade', but coming from Saxon 54 he places in the Singapore 3A. I went with that; I figured he can always work more quickly if it's easy, and then move on into the next level as he needs to. It's better to start a little easier and boost his confidence, than start with something that turns out to be difficult and then he's lacking in confidence.... My daughter, on the other hand, is finishing '2nd grade' and places in Singapore 2A. Anyway, I highly recommend taking the test.

Well right now he is working well above grade level as is, using 4th grade Abeka text as a 3rd grader and at that they are "easy" for him. I am hoping Singapore will be more challanging. We did the placement test and looks like 4A/B is the right fit for him. He has used Miquon before so has a little bit of the same type of learnign under his belt.

He whips through everything I give him. Both my boys seem to be self taught in math - like it is in their DNA to just get math - where my daughter has to learn every procedure and pattern and struggles with any deviation. In fact it is my 9 year old who explained percents of a total to my daughter in 7th grade.

So I guess to answer my question, Bigger won't have a schedule for the 4A/4B.

I don't remember welcoming you and just wanted to make sure that I did! I'm so sorry that 4 won't be in your "Bigger" manuel. It sounds like the Lord has gifted your son with a math brain! It will be neat to see what Lord has him do with this gift....? Engineer?

Sorry Bigger doesn't have a schedule for you, but you could always purchase a Preparing manual to use the schedule for math-you would probably use the rest of Preparing the following year, right? Of course, Preparing won't be ready til August, and that won't work if you plan to start soon

Hi there! It's so nice to meet you! I'm using Bigger... now, and I know you are going to enjoy it! I just wanted to make a simple suggestion, that you probably already may have thought of. Due to the easy boxes in the HOD plans, you can just pencil in the page numbers for 4A/4B in the Math "box" of the plans for the year before you begin, so that you can still work from the Bigger... manuel. For 1A/1B, 2A/2B, and 3A/3B, the younger HOD guides have us doing an average of 2 pages a day to get through the year. I'd assume that 4A/4B would be very similar. I know this is not an amazing idea or anything, but something about having it on each day's plans in the HOD guide before you begin makes it easier to stick to a plan (at least for me it would

that sounds like it would work. I wasn't sure how the schedule would go. I am using Little Hearts right now and it seems like the scehdule skips some.

But, yeah, we can easily just do the pages for 4 instead of 3(or 2).
