Does this sound like too much for CTC?

Post by tbarr12 » Sat Jun 05, 2010 6:41 pm

I'm drawing closer to a decision! If I choose to go with CTC next year for my 4th grade ds and 5th grade dd, here is what I'd be doing: CTC, R&S 4 with him (at the pace scheduled in the book), most likely R&S 5 with her (at the pace scheduled in the book), DITHOR with both of them at appropriate levels, math daily (of course), daily writing course (different than HOD's, takes 20-30 minutes/day), daily spelling program I use (takes 20 min/day), and Latin (most likely daily, but might change that). Does that sound like too much? There are certain things I won't budge on - like the spelling and writing - so if that does sound like too much, then CTC may not be right for us. Thanks for your honest opinions in advance. BTW, I will also have a 1st grade 6 yo dd whom I will be schooling.

This doesn't sound like too much to me. I am going to have a 10yr. old doing CTC this coming year and we will be doing the writing program written in the guides, the DITHR program, a seperate spelling program, and a seperate math program. I feel that this will be manageable for him, considering his work ethic, comprehension, and most of all, because of I've prayed A LOT about it.

We have recently (through much prayer), come to a decision to change basically everything we were doing and start out on a new path. Everything that we were using this past year just wasn't working as a whole. I spent a lot of time just seeking what the Lord would have for our school. I do sense that you have some uncertainty with going with HOD. I would recommend to just give it to the Lord and let Him direct. So many times I have just thought it all through myself, and really thought it would all work out well. I always find myself in need of the Lord to show me where HE wants us to be. It is in those times that His strength is made perfect in my weakness. He usually directs us to something FAR better than I could ever have imagined. I'll pray for you, too, as you come to a decision on this! :D

In Christ,
Lisa
