An idea for those who are starting HOD later in hsing

Post by girlboygirlboy » Fri Jun 04, 2010 9:56 am

We will be starting Bigger in the Fall, and I was lamenting as I was looking through the catalog at all the great literature my kids "missed" in Beyond b/c I didn't know about HOD. And it occurred to me(some of you may say duh! but it was a lightbulb moment for me:) that I could have a storytime & reading time during the summer and go through the books from Beyond. So I started looking at the online library catalog and have requested the emerging readers that were available for them to read to me and the storytime books for us to read aloud on those afternoons when it's just too hot to go out or when we are traveling during vacation.

Hope the idea will help someone else to be less sad about not finding HOD at the right time while also trusting that God was sovereign in our curriculum choices:)

Blessings!

What a great idea, Jennifer! :D I have done each of the HOD guides, but then I was sad about missing whichever Storytime sets I didn't use. I did the same thing and got those titles from HOD to enjoy as read alouds or for my dc to read on their own. Great literature is great literature anytime - and it shouldn't be missed! I'm so glad you thought of this, and I bet your kids are going to love it! :D

That's a fabulous idea!! We also have used HOD from the beginning, but I too have found that we don't want to miss any of the books so we've also been reading all of the storytime books. Everything Carrie picks is just too good to miss.
