Last week of LHFHG - loved the math today!

Post by jjdmathnut » Mon May 17, 2010 10:17 am

Hi! I'm so excited to report that we are on our final week of LHFHG. I'm proud of myself for staying on task all year and proud of my boys (6 and 5) for doing their best all year long! I just wanted to say that we loved today's (unit 34, day 1) math activity. The boys enjoyed counting out/paying their money to go on the (pretend) carnival rides. When we were done, they asked if they could go downstairs and create even more. I love to see kids' imaginations at work. Thanks Carrie for your ideas that have helped foster their imaginations all year long!!.....Jennifer

Way to go!!! :D I'm celebrating your happy finish to LHFHG with you today. :) I agree, the math activities often morph into playtime later. In fact, all 7 boys (my 3 sons and my 4 nephews) were at my house playing "market" the other day, which was a spin-off of their math HOD lesson. It was quite a day at the market. Anyway, I'm so glad to hear your sweeties are enjoying math and HOD too! "Beyond Little Hearts..." will give just as much joy. We just finished that and enjoyed it very much. :D

Jennifer,

HOORAY! I can't believe you're finished with LHFHG! :D I am thrilled that you have completed it and that your kiddos enjoyed their year.

I can remember doing the carnival ride activity with my little guy last year. We played it for several days afterwards too. Even daddy got involved in giving the "rides". Thanks for sharing! :D I'm celebrating with you today on completing the guide! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
