I know some of you might think I am crazy actually driving to find snow when some of you are counting the days (6timeboymom) when the snow around you will disappear!
No, Manzanar is not a proud time in Americam history! Such an unecessary situation that the Japanese Americans had to endure. After I finish reading
Farewell To Manzanar, I will probably pick up another title to learn more about this time period as well. I find it so interesting, especially since many of the locations that are spoken about I am familiar with. Unfortunately, we did not get anymore pictures of Manzanar. Most of the camp is quite barren as the structures that once stood there have long been sold off. You can still see how many of the people that lived there set up rock gardens around their "property". I think the most noteable element of Manzanar is the absolutely unforgiving, whipping wind that does not abate. Another element that the Japanese Americans had to endure.
Again, we had a wonderful time but, there truly is no place like home, glad to be back!
Now I am going to try and catch up on this busy board and say hello to all that I have not "met"!
