Q about Common Place book

Post by smithdonnajo » Tue May 04, 2010 10:35 pm

My 11yo ds will be doing Preparing. What kind of book have you used for the Common Place book? I've read some are using the bound composition books. I was wondering if it would be more special to the child to use something different for this? a journal style hardbound book? what size? I'm looking for ideas.

Will we be adding to the same Common Place book in CTC, or will we get a new Common Place book for CTC?

Thanks.

I can't really answer your question, however, I do have some hardbound books like you mentioned and they're very hard to write in, because they don't open flat. I'd stick to something with a soft cover...if that's what you mean.

I believe that we will use the same Common Place book for CTC as we did for Preparing. I thought the same thing you did and took Grant to Staples this fall. I let him pick out his own book, and he did think this was more special. :D I told him that this was the book that he was going to use to copy special things that were really worth remembering in - using his best handwriting, of course. He chose a black journal that has a magnetic clasp. I'm pretty sure it's about 6"x9". He liked that the pages looked golden on the side. :D

Here's a couple of pictures of what we have...
