I can't tell from the catalog (sorry - I just can't seem to get the rhythm of this catalog - it's sooo busy!) Are the student books consumable? Can 2 children at the same level use the same book or do they each need a new one each year? If they are in the 6/7/8 book, will they go through the same book 3 times? Ugh. I SO wish I had all of these questions BEFORE the convention where I stumbled onto all of this! I'm very excited to get started, but I'm nervous about getting all the materials.

Re: Student book for Heart of Reading
Hi Stacey!
The student books for DITHOR are consumable, but you are allowed to copy them for your family's use. You do repeat the pages, but with different books for the different genres over the years. I know you have a big span of ages in your house (from the other post I read). You can teach DITHOR "together" for parts of it...at least doing the same genre. And then you'd have to finish lessons with the younger ones and the olders will be more independent. I've only done DITHOR with one child so far, so I have NO experience with this yet.

Re: Student book for Heart of Reading
Kathleen already answered your other questions so well, I'll just pop in and answer this part. Beginning with PHFHG, HOD has a reminder to do DITHOR 3 times a week. So, you only get through about half of the genres each year. So, following HOD's guides you'd go through DITHOT about 1 1/2 times with Level 6/7/8. Many moms love it enough to go through it one more time in ninth grade though.wow8kids wrote:...If they are in the 6/7/8 book, will they go through the same book 3 times?
