Hi All!
I just need a little advice. We have been doing BLHFHG at half speed this year for my 2nd grader, who has Asperger's Syndrome. It is going GREAT at this rate (and I am utterly thrilled with the flexibility it offers for his special needs), but now his reading has just sky rocketed and he is all caught up and reading at grade level, FINALLY. He is plowing through the Emerging Readers portion of the curriculum and has made up for lost time, so to speak. He is already on his unit 13 books which line up with the unit we are currently doing, as a matter of fact. So I plan to continue through the Emerging Reader's portion of the program throughout the summer. We school all year long, with a more relaxed schedule over the summer (just reading and math). So my thinking is, we continue with his math (we use Math U See) and the Emerging Reader's program over the summer. But then when we pick up BLHFHG at half speed again come September (starting with Unit 18) he will need a reading program since he will have completed the Emerging Reader's portion. Obviously I am looking at DITHOR at the 2/3 level. Would the level 2 Book Pack line up with a 3rd grade reading level? It's looks like it does based on what I have read, but I would like an opinion of some moms that have used it at that level. Or should I go ahead and order the level 3 pack? I also want to make sure I am understanding the level system.... if my son is currently reading 2.7 level books that should line up with a 2nd grader in the 7th month of the school year right? And so on and so forth with 2.9, 3.1, 4.2, etc? Okay, I think that's it for now. Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Question About BLHFHG
Okay, I just had the time to review some of the other boards and frequently asked questions about DITHOR. I think I know which level to order now. My son is still reading out loud, but can do so on his own most of the time. He needs occasional help. His writing ability is average, but he still gets frustrated writing a lot at one time. So, I think that the level 2/3 workbook with the 3.1 to 4.1 level book pack will suit him well as a "third grader." He is right at grade level right now for reading and will finish the Emerging Readers books over the summer. So, thanks anyway guys, but I think I figured it out!

Re: Question About BLHFHG
Hooray for your ds taking off on his reading - way to go (both you and ds)! I'd do the Level 2 Book Packs with DITHOR Level 2/3 after the Emerging Reader's Set. The set ranges from 3.0-4.1 for a reading level, which as you mentioned, is just right for your ds's age. We've enjoyed DITHOR for many, many years now - you are in for a treat!
