Praise report!!!!

Post by Tracee » Sat Apr 10, 2010 11:51 am

I posted a praise report in my previous thread, but it got buried in the midst of responses, and I really want everyone to know how great HOD is. I had expressed my concern about my 5 year old not wanting to do the Rhymes in Motion, I was going to skip it. I'm thankful I didn't. By day 3, he jumped right in with us and wanted to do it over and over. I said, "Isn't this fun? That's why I wanted you to do it". He said he wanted to do it, but he was afraid I would laugh at him. :( . I was shocked that he would even think that, but I was glad that he told me and I could reassure him.

Also, all three of my children memorized the scripture verse. This was the most amazing part to me. I didn't really think that my 5 year old was going to be able to memorize it, let alone my 3 year olds. I'm amazed and so is DH. I'm so happy to have found HOD. Thank you, thank you, thank you all who were instrumental in the creation of this program.

That's great! That's good that your ds shared with you his concerns about being laughed at. Sometimes we really don't know what they are thinking! I had a chat with my 5yo yesterday about school, and learned some things I didn't realize. I got some new insight into his personality (some of his resistance to his phonics workbook is because he's afraid to get it wrong, not because of a lack of ability). We were able to come up with a solution that works for both of us, and I feel really good about it.

Anyway, my 5yo was hesitant to do the rhymes in motion too. But now I hear him doing them all the time. My children have been learning the scripture verses very easily thanks to the CD. I'm so glad I decided to get it; it makes a huge difference. (It helps me to memorize the scripture too!).

Tracy - thanks so much for sharing this! So many times I wonder what happened next and never find out - this is great to hear! I do think persevering through the things that aren't quite a natural inclination of our dc is a good thing to do, as over time those very things they struggled with can become their favorites, or at the very least, skills they've learned to do well even though they may not have been their favorite thing to do. I am so proud of you that you kept on positively encouraging your little one to work through his discomfort, and it's neat to hear he shared with you his concerns. Working through things like this together just draws us closer and closer to our dc as their hearts are revealed to us over time. Congratulations on your perseverance, and hooray for HOD being a happy thing in your home!!! I'm celebrating with you - thanks for this happy praise report. :D :D :D
