Over the last few weeks after making that decision, I feel he's progressed enough he will likely be ready for Beyond. He's ready for 1st grade math now. Instead of a handwriting program, I've been encouraging him to draw and trace. He's just not been ready for a real program, although he knows how to write letters, it's difficult for him to do it well. So for 1st, I'll use a K handwriting program. And 2nd, either 1st grade hw or copywork if he's ready. He is able to listen to DD8's BIGGER stories and enjoy them, but could use some more on his level to help him develop listening, comprehension, and narration skills.
Sooo....this is where my question comes in. Does this sound crazy?...this is for 1st gr (6-7yo), then 2nd gr (7-8yo). (Birthday is in Dec. shortly after starting the school year)
1st grade: BLHFHG 1/2 speed, Spelling List 1, LHFHG Storytime and K Handwriting full speed
2nd grade: 2nd half BLHFHG 1/2 speed, Spelling List 2, Beyond Storytime full speed, and 1st Handwrting or poetry copywork.
3rd grade: Bigger full speed as is
I'll tell you where he places on the placement chart for you to help me think through this! I know how important placement is to using HOD, and my time each day for school is limited, and I think Beyond half speed will take less time than LHFHG full speed. Right?? So, I can't decide about taking the above route, or just starting him in LHFHG as soon as I can get a guide again (likely in May so I'd start just a bit here and there, so really start in July or Aug for 1st).
