Selling old curriculum

Post by mamanlait » Sun Mar 28, 2010 7:03 pm

This weekend has been cleansing! After spending a little over a year with HOD, I've decided I can safely sell off my old curriculum! How exciting that this once curriculum junkie has settled comfortably into HOD and feels confident enough of the Lord's leading (as in He WAS leading) to continue with HOD in full force! I'm rejoicing in the confidence I finally have that I can homeschool without the devastating clutter that goes along with uncertainty in curriculum choice. Thank you, ladies, for the support and encouragement along the way, and, Carrie, please KEEP WRITING! By the way, I've been so blessed by Julie's devotional and CD choice as well.

Just overall...very thankful!

I am right there with you! Hello, my name is Tamara and I'm a Curriculaholic....or I used to be! No more though. I've boxed up SO MUCH old (some still new!)curriculum and am listing it for sale as well. And I know exactly what to do with the money...buy future HOD guides :D Like you, I am THAT sure about HOD and know that this is right where God wants us! What a wonderful feeling it is! Congratulations and happy selling!

Had I not found HOD early on in my hsing career, I SOOOO would be you! I love "school" stuff! I still enjoy going to the HS convention and looking around at the vendors, but instead of worrying about core items, I can spend money on the fun extras! Thanks, HOD!

I have been holding onto some things that I am planning to list this spring or summer too. I've known we really enjoy HOD but I thought "just in case" with some of it. My dh will be especially glad when it is no longer cluttering up our home. If there ever comes a time when we leave HOD then I guess we'll just have to purchase something then....doesn't look like we are though, since this is our fourth year! I can't hold onto it all for a 'maybe' that may never come.

We're right there with you. I'm in the process of clearing all our book shelves of books that were purchased with different curriculums in mind. Since shelf space is limited, I'm selling off all the other "plans" because I feel confident with our HOD plan. A blessing indeed.

I need to go through my basement shelves and sell the things that don't work for our family too. Being a new homeschooler, I bought too much so that I could look at it and try out our style. Now that we're settled in, I need to clear the shelves to that I can start collecting all the great reading books we'll be using!

That's a great way to clean house and start enjoying HOD! :D I'm also glad you're enjoying my devotional. You are on your way to a wonderful journey with HOD - each year has been such a blessing for us as well - I'm so glad you've found the peace making that decision brings. Let the fun continue! :D

Amy,

I'm so glad that you're enjoying your year! I am a reformed curriculum shopper too. As I'm getting older, I'm finding fewer and fewer truly excellent, God-honoring materials to use which makes the choices so much more obvious. :D

This thread blessed me today so much :D . We've have a long bout of health issues with my little Beau the last month and a half, so we're thrilled to be on the verge of getting back on track and focusing more attention on writing once again. :D Enjoy your clearing out! I know I am always relieved to do it. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
