Moving in 10 weeks....

Post by MistyP » Wed Feb 17, 2010 12:05 pm

We will be moving in 10 weeks, from FL to Missouri so it is quite the move. We are on Unit 24 of LHFHG so we have 10 units to go. We ended up just missing a week and a half of school due to DH's parents, sister, and her kids visiting for 12 days. I was hoping to continue with some school during that time but it did not work out... =( DH really wanted us to be able to be done with school a couple of weeks BEFORE moving.

So, my question is: should I double up on some of the days to get through the last 2 weeks? Say when we are done we are done whether we finished the book or not? or what?

In math they are both ahead, reading is going well and we will continue some reading through the summer.....

Thanks!!

I see from your tag you were hoping to move to MO, so HOORAY that it's happening now! :D I cannot imagine having family stay with us for 12 days. Hats off to you for being the loving entertainer there! I can see how you were unable to get school done then. If you are able to double up in an enjoyable way, I would. But, if that is going to be stressful, then for the last 2 weeks, I would finish out the reading of the history, science, and Storytime books, just discussing it as you go and not do the activities. I think this would be fine as you are only talking about 2 weeks here. I had to do this with Beyond one year as we had a baby and had complications. I just finished out the reading each morning and at bedtime. It went quite quickly, and wrapped up the year more completely than if I'd just skipped them. This is just an idea - so do what you think is best. It will be so fun for you to begin Beyond in your new home! :D A new home, a new guide - too fun! I hope the move goes well. :)

Thanks Julie! I guess I just wanted "permission" to not feel like we were skipping out if that is what it comes to at the end!

We are very excited about being moved, not so much the "getting moved!" LOL Having company for that long was quite stressful on me, I pretty much did everything but my kids enjoyed getting to spend time with their grandparents and cousins. I also got to go on a short business trip with DH and leave the oldest three with the grandparents so that was very nice and worth all the other work I did!
