Does HOD recommend any Latin curriculums?

Post by sted » Thu Jan 07, 2010 10:50 pm

I'm just wondering if any one could suggest a Latin curriculum I could add into my daughter's schedule. She' almost done her grammar program and I'm thinking of adding Latin in to the mix. I could just have her learn the root words or go into a beginner Latin program. Any advice? She'd turning 11 and doing Bigger w/extensions.

Thanks,
Shannon

Shannon,

I'll paste a response of mine about Latin from a previous thread, as I'm short on time tonight: :D

As far as Latin goes, we are thinking to offer it as an option in one of the next two guides after RTR. We will likely offer a choice between beginning Latin or beginning Spanish. Both programs will be mainly self-study for the students and will require an older, more mature learner. Depending on how full the guide becomes, the foreign language lessons may also be an option to use instead of dictation. But, we will still include dictation passages for those who need or desire that instead. In that way the foreign language wouldn't be a requirement, but rather an option.

This link may also help a bit. Link: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5003

Blessings,
Carrie
