Wars in LHFHG???
In the texts used for LHFHG history I noticed they discuss wars. Are these pages used in the plans?

Re: Wars in LHFHG???
Are you referring to the History for Little Pilgrims? If so, the sections on the 2 World Wars is VERY brief with no details, you can easily skip these sections.

Re: Wars in LHFHG???
Yes, and also I saw that it briefly touches on the war for independance, and the civil war. There is also the story of Polycarp that I was wondering about. I just do not feel personally that I want my 6 yr old introduced to that yet. I know it is only a few pages and I could skip reading them but I have a 3yr old who loves to look at books too and I am pretty sure the pictures would be enough to spark questions that I would rather not discuss at such a young age. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to skip that and hide those pages in the text (w/o ruining the book).
Re: Wars in LHFHG???
We just did the story about Polycarp, and the LHFHG manual actually states that "you may want to omit this story." The same is noted for the section about Christians suffering under the rule of the Caesars. I flipped ahead and didn't see any other disclaimers. The section in HFLP about the Civil war does mention slavery and the many who died, but the key ideas are about Lincoln and Robert E Lee's character traits, and God's provision through the war. I keep our schoolbooks out of easy reach so I can control anyone flipping through the books at this point You can easily skip or edit sections without ruining the book. HTH

Re: Wars in LHFHG???
LHFHG handles these topics with kid gloves IMO. They are brief and can easily be omitted if that is your desire. We read them and enjoyed discussing them. As we are a nation at war presently, it helped my dc appreciate more fully the freedom we have. However, I realize this is completely a personal preference, so you can either keep the books out of reach when it is not school time or you can glue the 2 pages together if you are very concerned about little ones flipping through it.
