Started LHFHG half-speed

Post by brenm37 » Tue Dec 01, 2009 3:35 pm

I finally started LHFHG yesterday with my 5 year old (soon to be 6). I am using Preparing for my older 2 and never felt "ready" to add in another program. We are starting it half-speed to get into the groove and her responses both days have been - this is fun! Can we do more? I am also feeling not so overwhelmed with going slower and may speed it up if I think we can all handle it. Just wanted to report a thumbs up and glad we started! :D

That's great! I just ordered it yesterday and plan to go half-speed in the beginning too. I can't wait to get my box! :)

I think half speed is a great way to start a new guide. We started half speed in the beginning too. Now we go full speed and sometimes even wish there was more! :-)

Glad to hear it is going well. We started 1/2 speed too, but now that we are in the groove, we are going almost full speed with no problem. It is so nice to have the flexibilty.

That's great to hear, and we've found the same thing - it's nice to start a new guide half-speed when doing another guide with older dc. :D I guess all I can say is you'll just know at what point you want to go full-speed with it, or if you would just rather continue half-speed all year. :D I've finally put this fear to rest for me. It seems like all of a sudden I just realize they are ready for it and I have the time and desire to do it - all of those things have to be in place for me to go full-speed though. If half-speed's working great and you're not sure if your child is ready for full-speed, or you're not sure if you have the time or the inclination right now to go to full-speed, I wouldn't mess with the half-speed plan - I'd just keep on going half-speed and enjoy it! :D I'm so glad it's going so well!!! :D

Brenda,

I am so glad to hear this! We did LHFHG at half speed two years ago with my third little guy and found it worked well too. Then, the next year we bumped up to full speed. I could not believe how much my little guy grew and matured in his academics during those two years. Now, we are up to doing Beyond at full speed this year already. :D He was ready mid year to bump up to full speed, and we are thrilled, especially since he had some speech and language therapies due to fluid in his inner ears and some fine motor issues due to a surgery on his hand. :D

We pray you have a blessed year.

Blessings,
Carrie
