Received my boxes!

Post by inHistiming » Sun Nov 22, 2009 10:45 pm

I received my boxes on Friday and I love the look of all the books! In fact, my oldest has been reading his sister's books already (because he knows he would just have to read his again for school!) so even though he's not going to do Preparing....he will still benefit from at least some of the reading on his own. My daughter read part of one too, and insists that she won't mind doing it for school as well, but I think I'll discourage reading ahead for the most part just in case. :? I am so excited to get into PHFHG with her, doing something that's 'just us' again will be fun. And I'm thrilled that my older son will be reading all the books in CTC. I may just have to do the program myself so I don't miss out on all he's learning.....but I do love that it's so independent, which is much needed here at this time. My younger ds will be plugging along in RME and his Saxon math, along with parts of LHTH that we still haven't completed...he's older than the age range but since I decided he'll do LHFHG as a first grader we still have the rest of this year to work through LHTH. I really think he will still enjoy it. Having not gone through a pre-school program he will enjoy all the guided art projects and he could still use the review of letter sounds. Plus, we definitely need the bible portion for him, so all around a great thing. Our lives have been kind of crazy over the past few years with moving and a new baby and moving again last week.   It will be nice to settle into HOD now again and stay put there for the next while. I can't wait to get started.

Yes! I feel like I'm getting a much-needed eduction too. I'm actually hoping to go through some of the math myself (from middle school) because that has always been my weak area...but the history, bible, and science.... really all of it.... is so great!

That's so wonderful! I'm glad you are enjoying going through the materials. I know what you mean about wanting to read all of the CTC materials but being very glad that they are independent. That is totally the way I feel. When I can, I try to read the materials just for my own enjoyment, but I am loving how independent my oldest is this year, and he is really spreading his wings and enjoying it too. I'm glad I have time for my little ones more now, as they are needing me more than my oldest right now. I'm excited for you to start, and I know you'll love CTC! :D

How exciting! You are going to love doing CTC and Preparing together. We are really enjoying it. Have fun thumbing through your books. If only school could have been like this when we were little. :D

I have missed you, Wendy! :D I'm glad that you're getting settled in - that's always so much work. (Although you would know that much more than I would...we've moved once in 10 years and that was only 3.5 miles. ) I bet your HOD boxes were the most fun to unpack! :D

You're going to love Preparing! We are thoroughly enjoying it this year!!! :D We finished up LHTH at the beginning of our year, and I was so glad that I decided to finish it rather than just move on. It is great down to the very last day! And we had some important talks about Jesus' sacrifice for us and our need of a Savior. (You can always jump into LHFHG whenever you finish, too, and give wiggle room for next year. )

inHistiming,

I'm so glad that you have your boxes in hand and are liking the looks of what you see. :D There's nothing like the feeling of being surrounded by wonderful books and pondering the year your kiddos have in front of them! We pray it will be a blessed one. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
