LHTH half-speed is a hit

We've been doing LHTH for a few weeks now at half-speed, and it's really helped me spend time with my little one. He loves it, and it only takes me about 15-20 minutes to do. It is well worth the time. For any of you with young dc, wondering if you should start LHTH or wait because your worried about getting to LHFHG too quickly, this has been a great answer for us. We spread out 1 LHTH day over 2 days. I decided to use both Bibles, and that has been nice. I put this in the weekly check-in, but will also put it here knowing not everyone gets to read the check-in.

Half of a day's plans done the first day:
Read the story from the younger children's Bible (A Child's First Bible).
Do the Fingerplay, Letter Activity, and Bible Activity boxes.

Second half of a day's plans done the second day:
Read the story from the older children's Bible (The New Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes).
Do the Fingerplay, Letter Flashcard Review, Rotating box, and Corresponding Music.

I just thought this may help some of you who might be in the same boat as I was - having a little one who would love to start LHTH, but short on time and wondering what to do if you finish LHTH too quickly and get to LHFHG too quickly - anyway, this has been an easy solution for us.

We too are enjoying LHTH! I do tend to repeat the Bible stories for two days just so my little guy really gets it better. I never thought of using two Bibles but that's a great idea. I picked the Beginner Bible so my emerging reader can use it on her schedule as well. Just like you it is our special time together and I try and do it first thing so he gets "his tank full". I also love some of the little craft ideas that keep him busy while I'm working with his older sisters. I find several of the older kids like listening in on the rhymes and Bible Stories which is great review of the Bible (in a new way) for them! My 18month old is even imitating some of the letter sounds with us! Lots of fun

Okay, not to be selfish or anything but, I am feeling like this post from you was sent to help me to get going with LHTH with my little 2.5 yr. old gal!
I have been contemplating starting it for a while (I posted quite a bit about it), and keep talking myself out of it thinking that I will be moving my dd too quickly through the programs. I also have a hard time figuring out how to divide my time between my two girls.
The main reason why I want to get going with LHTH is to find a fun, biblical, and educational way to spend some quality time with my little one. I always feel like my main effort is with my other dd, making sure she is moving along well with her school time. It seems that my little one has no special one-on-one time with me and it breaks my heart.
After reading your great report about using LHTH with your little guy, I feel renewed to get going with LHTH. I think that the way you divided up the day is brilliant. I like the idea of using both bibles as well, since I have both. I am definitely going to copy your plan.

We started LHTH today! I wrote last week about how your earlier post inspired me. My ds soaked up his special time with mom. We took his picture with our LHTH guide for his "first day". He was so excited about painting and acting like ants, alligators, and an albotross. He told his Dad and bros all about it at dinner tonight.

Candice, I also encourage you to go for it. I was thinking this same thing exactly last week:

It seems that my little one has no special one-on-one time with me and it breaks my heart.

I had all these intentions of planning things for us to do together, but I was finding the "planning" was never getting accomplished. I'm loving looking through LHTH because it seems just the right amount of activities without taking away too much from my older guys. I don't have to do the planning. I just open and go. I'm looking forward to this time with my little one! (Who was craving it!)

We're trying a full page a day. But I have to tell you. Julie, your half speed schedule helped me make up my mind. I knew I had flexible options if we needed to slow it down at some point. My sweet 4 yr old and I thank you!

Thanks, ladies! It seems I'm not alone in this thought. I really am thankful we've started it, as my little guy is s much more cheerful, and I feel good about the time I'm spending with him. I hope you find the same to be true!
