Gotta love it...

Post by Busymomma1 » Tue Oct 06, 2009 1:39 pm

when your kids talk about what they're learning at lunch time! We're doing Beyond, and my son said, "If we lived in Holland, Aunt Sharon would have to come in a boat to pick us up!" I guess they like the idea of the canals! But the point is... they REMEMBER these things and like to talk about them. The history can seem so easy sometimes, but I know they'll remember these facts. Makes me want to take a trip to Holland... :-)

We're doing Beyond too! And the same things are happening at my house. We are really enjoying the journey with the Pilgrims. My husband spent some time in Holland so looking through his pictures and hearing him say some of the words that he remembers has been fun for my kids. I too am wanting to go for a visit - I think the spring would be wonderful when all the tulips are in bloom!

Beyond is great for that because the stories are from the perspective of the children living at the times and so make a great connection with our little ones. I loved Beyond when we did it last year!

We're also doing Beyond and loving it! :D

I just found this site that perhaps some of you might be interested in as well. It has recipes for Dutch food. We will be picking out a couple to try while we are reading about the Pilgrims stay in Holland.

We're halfway through Beyond and have found the same thing too. Those little minds take in more than we ever know. It's neat when they are able to transfer what they've learned about in school to real life. Too cute - thanks for sharing! :D
