science in beyond question and a vent

Thanks for the ideas Julie. Truth is, we need to spend lots of time with science since ds is so interested. No matter what we use we'll probably be adding library books and etc. I really do like Beyond's science. However, ds is technically 3rd grade so thought I'd add some things. We did "Scholastic News" today and it's a great supplement to any program! Not something for full curriculum, but a great Friday activity.

I looked in my Bigger manual and I can't find the lab sheets you mentioned???? I may have missed it somewhere. Anyway, looking over all the experiments and etc. in Beyond look like loads of fun! Can't wait to get to everything and I'm glad to get all this worked out for us.

Sounds like you have a budding scientist on your hands! The lab sheet is in the Appendix of BHFHG. It is runoff that is used each experiment to teach the scientific method. HTH!

A helpful suggestion for the drawing segment is to let your son pick one thing out of the picture to focus on drawing. This can be less intimidating. He could even start by tracing that one thing and the filling in the details that he choses to include. This is how I work with my child that has similar proclivities.
