Amazed

Post by threegreatkids » Tue Sep 08, 2009 11:55 am

I am truly amazed at how enjoyable this curriculum is! We are almost 2 weeks into BHFHG and LHFHG, and for the first time in a very long time everyone (including Mom) is enjoying homeschool :D The kids are learning a LOT and it is so painless. We are able to finish both programs easily by lunchtime which leaves afternoons for other interests.I do think it is a blessing to have the correct placement, and i thank Carrie, Julie and everyone else who helped us figure out where we fit!!

Artistic dd8 loved working on her Science notebooking page today, and it is beautiful. Active ds 6 laughs so hard when we do the Rhymes in motion and is actually doing Reading Made Easy AND his handwriting without any complaints, and with much anticipation for when he can read books like his sisters.

This morning we got a late start (9:45) which would have spelled disaster in previous years. And yet we still had a great morning and finished shortly after lunch.

So what's the catch? When are things going to fall apart? Just kidding...I'm just so thankful for the blessing of HOD :)

I agree! My children are enjoying school so much. I think it is because....

1. Objectives are clearly defined. The kids know exactly what they are supposed to do (workboxes add to this also).
2. Huge variety in activities that meet every learning style. We are reading, listening, drawing, moving, singing...
3. Two separate programs. My children are simple thriving under their own goals and individualized books.

We are doing the same programs as you and really enjoying them! Our days go a bit longer than noon, but I add some extras (music, more art, Spainish, Writing, etc) because my ds is 10. Oh how I wish our days ended at noon! LOL

I echo your amazement with the curriculum. I kept thinking homeschool would be so hard to work into our schedule, but HOD is enjoyable and I look forward to doing it with the kids! I love reading the Bible every morning because it leads to wonderful discussions. My ds6 picks from the boxes what order he will work from and likes having a "say" in his school day. He's always anxious to see what project we'll do and often sits in on dd3's LHTH time with me because he likes her projects, too! :)

That's awesome! Each day becomes easier and easier as your routines are established, so you have many more happy days ahead of you. I am so glad to hear the placement is working out, and I'd love to see your dd's notebooking - I bet it is lovely. It's also such a bonus to have your ds be excited about reading - that spells success ahead! :D
