Post by butterfly113 » Thu Aug 27, 2009 4:19 pm

What type of paint did you use for week 3 history project in Preparing? It is the cave painting. I know I don't want to use water colors... should I use, tempera? acrylic? other suggestions? thanks!

I did a similar project with paper bags. I used acrylic paints that I had since they were earthy colors. We start Week three next week the kids will enjoy painting again.:)

We just did the cave painting yesterday! I only had brown tempera paint, so that's what we used. It looks great! I think the key was the outline in black permanent marker. My daughter is SO NOT an artist, so we cheated yesterday...I let her trace the bear from pg. 23 of Life in the Great Ice Age. We will attempt the mammoth this afternoon.

We did cave art today (not with Preparing) and the kids used charcoal sticks and art-grade chalk. They had a blast. Use what you have and don't worry about it.

We just used tempera paint, because it was what we happened to have on hand. Any of the options the ladies listed will work well. Enjoy! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

We used fingerpaint.  Here's a link to see the result. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4347 Our cat had a strange attraction to them and was tattering the edges so we recently cut them out and placed them in their binders.
