How much writing for English

HI ladies! I hope everyone had a lovely summer! I wondered if someone could tell me how much writing of the exercises to have my children do with the Rod and Staff English. My 4th grader will be working through this grammar mostly independently, and I want to get clarity on what would be good. Thanks!

I think it depends on the child but I can tell you what my daughter did. She was 9 & in 4th grade.

We did the oral section, orally.
She did half problems, written. (Diagramming was often done on a mini white board.)
She did all the writing lessons as written.
