Hi,
I am going w/ Bigger Hearts and am so excited. I got LHTH for my younger children. Now...I can't buy everything I need right now for Bigger Hearts. Obviously I need the TE Guide but what books do I absolutely have to have, that I can't get at the library, for the first few months of instruction. I am going to have to use the library for awhile...but I want to get those books that will be used over and over, like the readers I can get from the library. I have some of the other books already, the Hymn Book etc..
But..for the History and Science, what do I need for the first few months?
Does this make sense? Wish I could just get it ALL now but I can't.
Thanks in advance!!

Good morning, Kim, and congrats on your decision to go with Bigger Hearts! We did the BHFHG and LHTH combo a few years back. Great fun!
Here's what you'll need for the first few months for history and science...
History:
A First Book in American History
Journeys in Time
Stories of Great Americans (starting in Unit 6)
Science:
One Small Square: Seashore
*Note: There is one picture reference to One Small Square Woods in Unit 5 Day 2, but if you can find a picture of an amphibian - i.e. a toad, frog, or salamander somewhere that would work. There is another picture reference to One Small Square Woods in Unit 7 Day 3, but if you can find a picture of the parts of a flower that would work. Then, you can do without this book until it is used fully later in the year - though you may just want it now for convenience anyway.
Science in Colonial America (starting in Unit 5)
If I were you, I'd order the whole Economy Package. The only book you won't need right away from this package is THe Story of the Wright Brothers and Their Sister, which is $7.99. You save $11.40 by ordering the package, so you'd actually be ahead by buying the package. For science, you could just order the first few and get the rest later. The science is excellent though - so be sure to get the next books when you need them. My son looked forward to science each day, especially the experiments.
I liked we actually got experiments done, and my ds could do them instead of me doing them (as is the case in other curriculums).
HTH! Enjoy Bigger, it is awesome!
In Christ,
Julie
