Time line question for Preparing experts :)
First let me confess I am a bad mom.
My school room is my dining room and though it has a school room look I like it to look nice because it is open to the rest of my house.
If we ever finish off the basement I am all about having charts and things all over the place.
So looking at the accordion option for the timeline.
Is there any reason having a mini card file binder like this http://www.officemax.com/catalog/sku.js ... 1#homepage would not work. I am thinking either one long line of cards and keeping them full size or four time period streams of card with the leader card explaining the era or something like that actually in the three ring. Maybe a big rubber band to keep it closed when not in use. Does this look like it would work? I am trying to think compact but still usable and something that will also keep it nice as well.
Does this sound like it would work?

Re: Time line question for Preparing experts :)
I'd like to know this too as our school room is in an office with french doors and I'm out of wall space. I wasn't quite sure how to set up the timeline if I didn't want to tape it to the door. I also have littles around often and don't want them to mess with it. What has anyone else done?

I know with Mystery of History, they suggest using one of those cardboard "cutting boards" that you use for fabric. The fold-up kind you get at Hancock's or JoAnn's. I am actually putting mine on poster board (will end up with 2-3 maybe) that are hanging on the back of our current classroom door, since I have plans to move our classroom soon and can easily reattach to another door.

Those little binders look neat! The only thing I'm thinking is that it's nice to see them all in a row, like the flow of time.

If you did the accordian style one, you should be able to fold it all up and rubberband it in between timeline assignments. However, if you like the binders better, go for them!

Julie

Thank you Julie! I guess I just needed permission.
I am going to go with some type of mini binder thing either with dividers by years or accordion style. I'll see how it goes.
