We just completed Unit 1 of Preparing today and overall it was a hit! My 5 year old is listening to the history and story time readings and participating in answering questions. She is glad to be included "officially" at the table this year. I have LHFHG for her, but have decided to hold off on it til 1st grade (or maybe later in her K year). I am using Preparing with an 8 year old girl and 10 year old girl. The 8 year old is a bit more challenged than the 10 year old, but I plan on implementing the extension readings for the 10 year old as we get more into our year. They both LOVE the independent work and artwork and projects! My 8 year old went on to design a helmet, breastplate and sword after making the shield of faith. The time frame of about 4 hours to complete this program is right on target for us. I am enjoying all the fabulous books (most of which I have never read) and am thankful for the thought and care that I can see went into selecting them. We have dabbled in DITHOR, but haven't really put it into our schedule yet. This is our first year with HOD and I am trying not to overwhelm us all with everything all at once! There are several things we have not done before, so we have to get used to the way things work. Thank you, Carrie, for a wonderful, easy to use, God-honoring program. I wish I had found HOD at the beginning, but I am here now and want to make the most of it!

I'm so glad you had a great first week, Brenda!

We did PHFHG last year, and you'll keep enjoying it all year long. Whenever you start LHFHG, your little one is sure to enjoy that as well.

Brenda,
I'm so glad that you had a good first week of Preparing Hearts.

It sounds like your kiddos were busy and engaged and are enjoying their school days overall.
I think you have a great plan to ease into LHFHG and DITHR once you hit your stride with Preparing Hearts. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to share your first week with us. We pray you'll enjoy Preparing Hearts as much as we did last year with our own son!
Blessings,
Carrie
