How do I find the Reader Level scores for other books?

Post by sewpeaceful » Sun Aug 02, 2009 2:20 pm

Hi!

Carrie has a reader level for all of the books in her store. Does anyone know where I could find this level for other titles? We are told to raid our bookshelves and let this program work with what we have. Wonderful! But how do I know what the level is of what I have?

Also, suggestions on determining how long we should take to read a given book?

I am trying to set up and plan our reading but I need some guidance and this information could really help!! :D

found the answer so I thought I would share:

To get the reader level Carrie uses, go to:

http://bookwizard.scholastic.com/tbw/homePage.do

As far as how many days to spend on a book, I looked at a few 5 day books on her list, 10 day, and 15 day and then guessed.

I hope that helps some of you as you plan your DTHOR for the year.

I had not seen the scholastic site but have always used this one

http://www.lexile.com/EntrancePageHtml.aspx?1

and now apparently you can search on Barnes & Noble using the lexile scale. Thanks for the new option - always looking for new books on the right level for my challenging to teach reading student!
