Art

Post by Michelle My Bell » Wed Jul 29, 2009 9:33 pm

Do you all add art to HOD or do you consider the art included in HOD with the history projects, science projects and poetry study to be enough? I am thinking of adding Artistic Pursuits and having a Fine Arts Friday with the art projects displayed for the week along with artists samples of who we will be learning about. What do you all do?

We do the CLE Artpacs in addition to the art in HOD...mostly because my kids LOVE art and we dropped our co-op class (Art) this year. It can't hurt to add more. :)

I don't know what level of HOD you are using in fall. We are going to do Harmony Fine Arts - Grade 5 to go with CTC. Harmony Fine Arts schedules Artistic Pursuits as it's 3rd option.

If your children are interested in doing more art than HOD has and your family has an artistic bend you may want to add more art. How Great Thou Art has some really great curriculum that is Christian based. Other than that HOD has some really fun and well rounded art already included.

Michelle,

The ladies have given you terrific suggestions! :D At our house, I love art and actually own all of the programs that the ladies mentioned. However, I have not done a good job of getting to them. That is part of the reason why we make sure to write art projects, sketching, painting, and crafts into our HOD guides. I actually DO get those done.

So, if you are an art-loving family, or if you desire more art, you can easily add it in. If you don't have time to add more art, you can know that the art in the HOD guides is what gets done at our house. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
