Anyone used a 10-drawer rolling cart to organize?

Post by Michelle » Wed Jul 22, 2009 10:02 am

Hi! :D I've been trying to figure out what to get to help us organize our school days with HOD. I've seen a 10-drawer rolling cart at Shopko and Jo-Ann Fabrics and was wondering if anyone is using it. Since my ds will be doing Preparing and there are 10 boxes per day, I was thinking that this 10 drawer cart would be perfect. Anyone out there using something like that or what can you recommend for organizing the things he'll be using every day?
Thanks! Michelle :D (a little bit of an organizing freak  )

I think it is completely doable. Here's what I'm using....

I just had this stuff already but it would be easily replaced by a 10-drawer cart.

I looked at the cart at Joann's but was not happy with it. The drawers are rather small and there are only 10. I found some great stackable bins at Target that do not require a shelf or bin. They are the Circo Medium Stackable Baskets. They have a cool handle that folds in for stacking and folds back for nesting. They are $2.99 so 12 of them was $36, nearly the cost of mst of the shelves that I saw. Plus, since we travel a good bit I am able to take the nested baskets much easier and they stack with no need of a shelf or lots of floor space.

We started using the workbox system on Monday and it is going VERY WELL. My dd loves that she knows exactly how much is left and that she can see her progress on the board where she stores her used numbers.

I would love to send pictures if someone could explain how to get the inages to post.

I used a 7 drawer cart this year for Beyond and it worked great. It had 4 small and 3 large drawers. I had to consolidate some of my subjects and I don't know if it will work for Bigger next year. I may keep it for my stuff for both programs (Bigger and LHTH) and get the kids a file box.

Judy, I would love to see your pics if you can figure out how to post them.

Daisy, I saw your workbox tags, those are so neat.

Can someone please explain the workbox thing to me in simple terms :D ?!

I have seen people using magazine holders. Is that a good option? What about baskets like Judy mentioned?

How do the tags work?

I would love some instruction if someone is willing to share!

Thanks!

Yipee! I can now add photos to my posts. Here are pictures of our new workbox system, closeup of the stackable basket and dd's number board (minus the numbers). She removes the number from each basket as she begins and puts it on her board. It is another remineder of how much she has completed and how many are left to finish.

Hope this works!

This looks really nice at a good price. Plus, you can use a $10 off $40 purchase with an email coupon that I can forward to you if you PM me. The coupon expires on the 27th of this month. That would make the cart $29.99. Plus, you have the option to pick it up in the store or get free delivery on an order over $50.

The drawers can be removed to take to the child's work area.

Hi and thanks for the replies! I'm going to Shopko today where the 10-drawer cart is supposed to be on sale for $30.00 and I got a $10.00 off coupon in the mail (when you present the shopko rewards card) so then it would only be $20. BUT, that seems like a big cart for just holding the current work and I'd still need a place for the rest of the Preparing... books that we're not using.

Anyone offer a suggestion here? :) Thanks a ton!

We just bought the above pictured cart from Office Depot for my dd's school supplies a few weeks ago. We bought the one that has several shades of pink. It is great for organizing her art supplies, pencils, pens, colors, notebook paper, and needed math supplies. She will be able to slide the drawer out and take it to the dining room table where we do school. I have my books organized in clear white tubs with lids (and handles) that can easily be picked up and brought to the table as well.
It is so much fun to get things ready for the school year! Happy orgainizing!
