Cheerful Cursive question

Post by MommyInTraining » Tue Jul 21, 2009 5:00 am

Could someone tell me if the Cheerful Cursive book uses personification with the letters? Does it make the letters talk and look like humans?

Thanks!

Hi Terri!

I just got my copy of CC and we haven't started using it yet (I got something cheaper for last year and hated it! )

Yes, there is some personification. The cover word "Cheerful" is the letters made into little characters and then those same guys are used as introductions or headers throughout. I wouldn't say it's really prevalent, but it's there.

Have you seen that Zaner Boser has customizable pages you can print out for use with cursive? http://www.zaner-bloser.com/educator/pr ... px?id=4296 but it doesn't have the helps with the little arrows.

I have also heard lovely things about Queen Homeschool's Pictures in Cursive. http://www.queenhomeschool.com/productp ... meset.html

Good luck in finding something you like!

PS - Lucy owes Amy a letter and it's on it's way!

Thanks Amy!

We had that issue when we used Handwriting Without Tears with happy face pencils. It wasn't a big deal to just put a sticker over it. Would you say that that could easily be done with the Cheerful Cursive letter "people" or do you think it would compromise the program?

When is Lucy starting Preparing? I am still debating whether to put Amy in Preparing or work her in to Beyond with her siblings.

Thanks again for your help!

If anyone else could also comment on my questions about Cheerful Cursive it would be much appreciated!

Thank you,

Terri

I think you could probably put a sticker over them. I have scanned a few pages if you want me to email them to you. Just PM me your email addy.

We're starting Preparing in the Fall. We never got through all of Bigger because we started in January and we both needed a break this summer. She's still doing some math and of course reading, but we aren't getting to grammar like I hoped. Oh, well. That's okay too. We'll get through it eventually. But I am starting fresh with Preparing for fall so that I can have her on the 4 year cycle starting with CTC for 5th-8th. Combining isn't an issue for me because I only have the 2 kids and they are very far apart in skills. I can so see how you'd want to simplify and combine! Are you feeling well?

Let me know about those scans, I'm happy to shoot them over (and to anyone else reading too!)

Thanks Amy,

I will PM you the email. We didn't get through Bigger either. I am starting to feel better and I hope the nausea will end soon. I am having trouble with my little guy right now. He has been running a fever, doesn't want to eat, FUSSY. I think he may be trying to cut some teeth, but they don't seem to want to come on through.

Thanks for asking and thanks for your help!!!

Blessings,

Terri
