I know this is sad to say, but I am so nervous about the responsibility of teaching my dd to read this year! This is our first time hs and I am LOVING the HOD books and I cannot wait to get started. At the end of the school year last year I purchased the Abeka K5 phonics, reading and writing program for $10 used! Then when I found HOD, I purchased the RME program. (However it looks like I still need to purchase a CD or something with the work pages on it..?? Havent figured that one out yet!) I am still debating on which to use. My dd has done the Abeka K4 stuff last year in preschool. Is there any testimonials out there for RME or even the Abeka? Abeka seems to be a little more tedious looking than the RME, but again, this is my first time hs and I guess I just want to pick a program that is easy but most of all enjoyable for her!?
Thank you in advance for the responses and again I cannot wait to start schooling with HOD!!!

Reading Made Easy just came out with workbooks, but you don't have to have them. Reading Made Easy has been around for many years, was in Cathy Duffy's Top 100 Picks, and works great without the workbooks too. I don't know anything about Abeka, but my sister has used Reading Made Easy to teach her many dc how to read and been very happy with the results. Her dc are all very strong readers. Any phonics program works with HOD though - so you can use the one you like best!cdrx4 wrote:I know this is sad to say, but I am so nervous about the responsibility of teaching my dd to read this year!
