Another Question Please

Ok, I should have asked this in my earlier thread, but do I need to order the storytime set right now, the hide em' in your heart cd, and the Rod and staff books (do it carefully and finding the answers) to have a complete curriculum for my kindergartener?

The reason I ask is because I already have so many stories right now for my son, including Peter Rabbit. I have some books I have picked up for kindergarten (workbooks) that look very similar to what the Rod and Staff books include, and I just don't know if I need the CD.

Like I mentioned before, money is very tight right now, but I am wanting to get a good program for my son. I feel that getting the guide, history books, science, math, and devotions would be a great start with HOD and I could supplement all the rest on my own without it affecting too much. Later, maybe I would be in a better position to purchase more.

Also, why are there two history books for kindergarten? I researched both and found reviews on History for Little Pilgrims to be very good while History Stories for Children to not be so good. So, I was just curious... why two history books?

The R&S workbooks work on fine motor skills, so I'm sure you could work on those with what you have if they do cutting, pasting, etc. (They are pretty cheap though. Probably less expensive that what Wal-Mart has.)

I think getting the storytime set would be pretty important. I know that listening skills and early narrating skills are really taught using this particular set with the guide. (I haven't actually ordered mine yet to tell you specifically, but I know it's a favorite part of the day with several moms and kids.)

Our family LOVES this CD. We had it way before we found HOD. But, I'm sure that you can go without it. (I'm probably not helping your checkbook a whole lot, huh. )

Again, thank you for your reply. You know... I want it all! It is my budget that is being stubborn!

I was thinking the CD would be really great just because I have heard such great things about it. I really didn't know if the storytime set made a difference or not. We do storytime every day here, so I just wasn't sure. I already have several workbooks that are similar to the R&S books, so I wouldn't have to spend any extra to get them.

Who knows... maybe I will search my house for some Ebay or Craigslist items to sell and just purchase everything anyway from the money made from that. It is for my son's education after all! : )))

I don't want to sound really untactful, but would there be some other family members who would like to buy a great birthday gift or "holiday" gift that could be maybe a workbook or CD that could contribute to helping your dc learn? We have had such offerings in the past of suggestions of what to get our dc and this has helped a lot.

We are doing LHFHG right now and I dont' have the cd and it hasn't hurt us any. I think you could supplement any fine motor skills workbook in place of the R&S books. I like the R&S but if you already have something and are trying to save money then I would use what I had already. The storytime is good and I love the books. Maybe you could see if your library has them. I know ours has several of the Thornton Burgess books.

They are online though for free and you just have to print the pages as you need them or read from the computer.
