Hello,
I am ready to place my order with HOD, but I was wondering.... if I just use a Bible that we already have and do other handwriting, will it affect the curriculum at all??? I am trying my best to keep costs down right now, but yet still have a solid and good curriculum.
Thank you! Have a wonderful day! : )))

Re: Help Needed Please
Are you using LHFHG or LHTH? (I'm guessing LHFHG, but just wanted to check.)
If you could come up with money for the Bible, I think it would really make your days easier. Your guide will be open and go if you can just flip to the right page, rather than trying to find it in another story Bible. I know in LHTH the scripture references are included, so you can read from your Bible, too. I'm guessing LHFHG is the same. So, you could definitely use the program without the story Bible, but I know my kids love the Bibles that HOD has chosen, and it really makes my days easier not having to find the right story somewhere else.
Using your own handwriting will be no problem at all!
Happy ordering! (Maybe I'll chase you to the checkout. I'm planning to order today, too!! )

Re: Help Needed Please
Thank you, Kathleen, for your input. I am sorry, yes, I am referring to LHFHG. I didn't make that clear before because I was in a hurry.
Maybe I will try to work in the Bible... I was really excited about getting it anyway. This whole "budget" thing really puts a damper on things.
Thanks again! Oh, and have fun placing your order... you will beat me because I am still scattered about exactly what I will be ordering. Have a great evening.

If I were you, this would be my ordering priority...
1)I'd try to order the Economy Package. (This includes the storytime set and the R&S workbooks that I know you're debating. But, if you order the package, you basically get the workbooks and half the storytime books free with the package discount. )
2) Science and math you said you were getting. (I assume you're covering phonics somehow, too.)
3) Bible (You'll use this a lot! Unless you're comfortable using your Bible to read from or looking for the stories in another story Bible you already have. This would work, too.)
4) Devotional/CD (I believe that the devotional is used weekly...so it's only something you'd miss once per unit. And, while I love the CD, you could go without it. Both of these are also something that you could add a few months into the year, too, and fully enjoy them then. I started LHTH without the devotional or the music and added them later and it worked just fine that way.)
5) Handwriting you could definitely cover with something else you have.

Re: Help Needed Please
Kathleen gave some great advice - and only you can know your budget. I would second getting the Bible if you can swing it - it is used so much, and the convenience of opening to the page each day really is worth it.
