Could someone summarize the differences between these two programs?

Thanks,

I had the same question just a couple of weeks ago, so I know it's a hard decision!!
We decided to go with The Reading Lesson. I liked how I could try out the first two lessons before purchasing the book & I really liked the thought of cuddling on the couch & doing our Reading program as is- no extra prep. We went through the first two lessons, and then on Monday, we got the official book in the mail, & my girls are loving it! :D They love to sign their name at the bottom of the page the first day they read it, & then the next (when they "master" it) they get to put a sticker on the page. It's amazing to me how much they can already read. (We also got the compter CD, but haven't used it that much)
That said, Reading Made Easy looks absolutely wonderful as well & has new workbooks that go along with it that look great!
The thread that Val posted should help a lot in answering you question.
Hope this helps a little. I'm saying a prayer for you as I know how much you want to make the "right" decision the first time!

Hi,
We recently started TRL (we're in lesson 4, after a couple of weeks) and are enjoying it. I didn't know about the workbooks for RME, otherwise I may have picked that one - making notecards turned me off at the time :). I specifically wanted a program with minimal writing involved for my ds, because he's just not ready to practice regularly, but I knew he was ready to start reading. There's a page to connect the matching words etc. every 4-5 pages, which is fine for us. We didn't get the CD, so I can't speak to that part. I was also able to find TRL (book only) for less than $20, so I figured it was worth starting there. Honestly, since RME has worksheets, they both seem great to me. I don't think there's a wrong choice for you here - pray and see where the Lord leads :). HTH :D
