by Rick and Marilyn Boyer... Has anyone used this? Did you and your family like it? How did you schedule it? Thanks for any suggestions!

We have been using Proverbs People this year with a 12 yo and a 7 yo. We are in the second book right now and have been enjoying it!

As far as scheduling goes, we have been doing MFW this year, but plan on doing HOD in the fall. MFW has Bible scheduled in, but we did PP instead of some of what MFW had us do. We didn't do it every week, but when we were doing it, we would do a section at a time. MFW scheduled in for us to read through the book of Matthew, but we went through all the gospels last year, so we were doing Proverbs People instead. Sometimes, MFW had other books scheduled in like the Hero Tales book, so when we were reading that, we would take a break from PP.

We ususally did 1-2 pages a day until that section was done. For instance, right now we are learning about the "angry man" and we will do pages on that every day until that section is done. I photocopy the coloring page so both my kiddos can color it and put it in their notebook under the Bible section. I have also had them memorize a couple of the verses, but we do AWANA as well, so we haven't done memorization with the proverbs as much. However, I have found a lot of teachable moments throughout our day where I could reinforce what we have learned from the Proverbs. I had my 12 yo read the verses sometimes, and the 7 yo is learning to look up verses, so I would have him do that sometimes. He is still learning to read, but occasionally, I would let him read a couple of the verses.

Overall, we have liked it. If we go more than a couple of weeks without doing it, one of the kids usually says "Mom, when are we going to do Proverbs People again?" That's a good sign that they like it I guess :D Also, I notice the kids noticing when they or someone else has an attitude talked about in Proverbs, like recently my 7 yo noticed that someone was being prideful. That was so neat to see that he was recognizing those heart attitutes!

We just purchased this and really like it. We use during family Bible study and discussion - usually after dinner when we have time - maybe 2x per week. I have the older ones look up the scripture verses to read aloud and then we discuss it. It's easy to implement AND not having it on an "exact" schedule has been nice for all of us. It been an easy tool to use that with all of my children and their current ages with the exception of the baby!
