Bible question

Post by WigglesMom » Sun May 24, 2009 11:36 am

I just got my copy of BHFHG in yesterday, and I have spent some time perusing it and enjoying it before starting with the kids. I did have a question though. Does it matter what type of Bible you use with the memory verses? What I mean is, Is it written to be used with KJV or can you use NIV or whatever preference you have without it taking away from some of the activites. Like the one I was looking at you were supposed to start doing hand motions with the Bible verse at some point during the week and I wondered did it matter what type of Bible you were using for these types of activities?
Thanks,
Val

I used a NIrV (the young readers versions of NIV) for my dd7 during the lessons in order to have better understanding. For memory work, I used the NIV or KJV-- whatever the Steve Green CD uses to help dc remember their verses. So, it really doesn't matter which you use-- the activities won't be affected. :D

Thanks everyone. I think we will be using NIV then. I had never heard of a NIrV Bible before, but I am going to look for one this week at the Christian book store in town. I think that would help my ds-6 with understanding the Bible a bit more and use a NIV with my dd-7 and dd-8.

We use several. Sometimes if we learn one version early we will memorize a different version. I know that sounds crazy and maybe it is  but we do it for deeper understanding sometimes. The point is you cans see how little it matters. All that matters is using one you are comfortable with and getting the Word into their hearts. Enjoy your Bible time. We love HOD Bible it has been a huge blessing to us!

We use the NIrV or the NIV. You can use whichever one you like best. :D

Just use whatever one you would like the best! HOD always tries to give Scripture references so you can do that. :D

We use NIrv for on and the ICB (International Childrens Bible ) for another, as it has further explanations than the NIrV. Both our older two prefer the KJV with a NKJV study to really explain in detail and most of their work is in KJV so they find it easier to relate. Also has more of a poetic wording which helps them to memorize as it will stick in thier minds as some of the words are uncommon.
Hope that helps and doesn't confuse.
