Wow, I am sorry to see so many children suffer with this. I am however very glad you shared this. It really helps to have support & then to find out you are not alone is very comforting. My son is 5 & has a lot of fear issues too. So do ALL of my dc. They all have different degrees of fear & I have learned a HUGE factor for my dc is the food they eat. My 11dd cannot have dyes in foods. My son either. He also cannot have sugary dessert after dinner or too many sweets period. My kids get either a half a cup of juice or 1 cookie (for the day)that is made without high fructose corn syrup. Ice cream has to have no dyes in it etc. No rainbow colored sherbet any more! Every time he does he will wake up terrified of something or another. So, you may want to look at the diets & see if you see a pattern. The kicker for us is he sleeps in our room! His toddler bed is smack dab between my dresser & my bed. We are like sardines! :) We tried to move him into his sisters' room in April when he turned 5 & it was a disaster! My up stairs is so small that I could see him in his bed from my bed! My ds has a very sensitive spirit (all my kids do & so do I)& we limit greatly what we watch. He is even scared of some of the Veggie tales. All kids are wired different & I really want to teach them to cope but first they need to feel secure. I was very stern at first with my oldest dd. It did not help her at ALL to try & cope with it on her own. Yes, I prayed with her & played soft worship music first. My 11dd has gotten much better as she aged but you know what? She has other big girl fears. So it is something I pray will draw them to the Lord. I do teach my kids now with gentleness & positive words. We pray & memorize specific scriptures. We play & sing comforting worship. I have a great CD called Seeds of Courage that is strictly scripture. WE ALL LOVE IT! We also bought Seeds of Faith & Seeds of Worship. Got them at CBD. They have blessed me greatly as well. My son tells me he uses it all the time during the day when he needs to go get something from another room. :D Now I have learned to look to the Lord & try to see what the He is teaching us through these tough times. For me it was a dying of the self. I did NOT want to be awakened by some silly fears over & over again. Now I know that is wrong & God has been showing me how to be more gentle & compassionate....even at 3am...

Hope you have more blessed nights & know you are not alone. :)
