Hello,
I have posted before that we are thinking about using Bigger for our 8 year old ds who has ADHD and will be starting 3rd Grade this summer. I just love the way Bigger is written and incorporates History, Science and Bible Studies. We are thinking about using ACE for Math, Creative Writing, English and Word Building. Would this in any way be counterproductive if using Bigger? I am sorry if I sound ignorant - but this is only my 2nd year of hs. There is still soooooooooo much to learn. My son strives with a mastery approach. So, if anyone out there uses a different recommendation than the one HOD gives - I'd love to hear from you.
ACE and Bigger.....????????????
I am using Little Hearts for K and I use a different phonics and math program than what is recommended. I have not found this to be a problem at all. I have never seen Bigger, put I think that is the beauty of HOD programs is that you can tweak them to fit the needs of your child. HTH!

It would work for you to use ACE for the areas you mentioned along with Bigger.... If ACE has been working for you in those areas, I would stay with that plan then. We like the old adage, "If it isn't broken, don't fix it!" One thing to watch out for with ACE is that your kiddo doesn't burn out on the amount of writing required. There is writing required in the form of copywork, notebooking, a few vocabulary words each week, and a weekly Bible verse in "Bigger...." as well. So, you may want to keep an eye on the amount of writing you are requiring overall to make sure it doesn't get to be too much.
The nice part is that if your ACE stops being a good fit, you have a back-up plan in your "Bigger...." guide that you can jump into instead for language arts and math.
Blessings,
Carrie
