Need a little encouragement

Post by mn_kids » Tue Apr 28, 2009 12:44 pm

I just purchased Preparing Hearts used on a message board and the lady only sent me 11 of the books and I paid over $2oo for everything I needed. She advertised it complete and emailed me back and forth with what I already had and was very willing to break it down for me. I am just so disheartened. I have sold many things via the web and bought many too but this is just crazy. I guess it's a good lesson in web crazies for me. I tend to be trusting but I am sad that a fellow homeschooler would stoop to that level. Anyway just had to get that off my chest. I guess it will be awhile before I start the next year now...bummer

If you used Paypal, you can file a complaint against them and Paypal will help you resolve it. I had to do this with someone I bought some curriculum from once, and it turned out to be a misunderstanding. Might be worth a try...

Is it possible that she had to use 2 (or more) packages to fit everything? Maybe there's a 2nd package coming that got separated from it and it'll come in a day or two? (Trying to be optimistic for you!)

I hope that's true too but the package I recieved was a huge box stuffed with bags to take up space. I just filed a dispute with paypal so hopefully it all gets resolved.

To be honest, I am unwilling to purchase the guides used. Maybe that's not what you're talking about, maybe just the books. HOWEVER, I have gotten many, many of the books I need from paperbackswap, Goodwill, my local 1/2 Price Books, and checking stock at the library, etc.

Just now I was researching how to find the last few remaining books I need for less, so that I don't have to buy them from HoD at full retail. When I add it all up, I can't get them all from one source, I have no idea who I'm dealing with, and I wind up saving about $3 when it's all said and done. It's not worth it and I will be getting it all from HoD when I can.

I really and truly understand the need for economizing and I so hope that there is another pkg on it's way and this was all just a big misunderstanding. It's hard to trust that someone you don't know is going to do the right thing! {{HUGS}}

Here's another optimistic post:
Maybe the 15 that are missing completely fill another box. Then she had another big box that the rest of the books didn't completely fill (which would explain all the bags stuffed in there to fill the box up).

I'd email her and give her a chance to explain before you get upset about it.

definitly email her and ask. Also always pay with paypal when buying from strangers becaause it is on thier shoulders to prove they sent it or paypal wil give you back your money. Likewise when selling online keep all emails and use delivery confirmation. Sometimes buying used can be a real headache. Sorry this happened to you.

Another thing I do when buying on ebay or via a message board is only spend as much as I am willing to lose. I've also found that in the end when piecemealing (sp?) :oops: here and there when you pay shipping to a bunch of different sellers in the end I don't usually save all that much.

I purchase some books a couple of weeks (not HOD) and had exactly the same thing happen...shipped in 2 boxes and one came super quick...praying the rest of your purchase is on the way...media mail can be variable.

I know when I am completely done I will try to sell my books...but plan to buy new from HOD!!...

Keep us posted.

Im sorry -I would file with paypal. If it turns out that there is another box on the way-that is easily sorted from the sellers end[she can just explain and quote her delivery confirmation #'s]But with PP you have a limited time[is it 30 days?] to file a complaint.
I order from various sources because Im in the UK.To have HOD ship everything would get scarily expensive in shipping,so I try to buy from this country if I can.

Praying you get all the curriculum you need
