Question about Reading Made Easy and The Reading Lesson

Post by mariaw » Wed Mar 18, 2009 7:52 am

I have looked at the samples of both of these, and I like them both. What I hope I can find out from those of you who have used one or the other is, are the lessons in the same format all the way through, or is there some variety? My son tends to get bored when we do the same thing over and over, just with different letters. I like SOME structure, don't get me wrong, but I'm just curious which of these programs would offer the most variety.

Thanks!

We use the Reading Lesson and I don't know how much variety there is, but it is very uncluttered and right to the point. However, you can mix it up a bit and do some of the book and then have him do the computer lesson. My kids love it! Another thing that I do with them, to help them keep moving along, is I have a "treasure box" . :D And, when they pass one Unit, they get to pick out of it. They always want to do more, but we keep it to 2-3 pages for my younger and 3-4 pages for my older.
Also, when you get about three quarters of the way through the Reading Lesson, they tell you that you can now start reading some books... first reader type books. I would suggest the Bob Books or others along that line, until he is done with the Reading Lesson and ready for the Emerging Reader set. :D

I hope that helps a little bit. :D
