Q about BLHFHG???
Q about BLHFHG???
There are 3 "sets" of chapter books, the classic, the girls and the boys. I already have some of the books from each catagory. Can I just use the books I have (if there are the same number of books that would equal one "set") or do I need to stick with one of the pre-selected "sets" to make this work? Does one "set" last for the whole BLHFHG or do you use all the "sets"?
Trying to see how much I need to budget for next years curriculum......

Re: Q about BLHFHG???
You may use any books you wish, as long as you use ONE book for each genre. You spend 4 weeks on each genre, so you divide up the total number of pages in the book by 20 to see how many pages a day you should read. I get most of these books from yard sales or the library. What's important is to have one of the fantasy books, one of the mystery books, one of the adventure books, etc... If you look in the back of the beyond manual I think that there are actually 4 suggestions for each genre.
does that help?
does that help?
Re: Q about BLHFHG???
Yes thank you!
Now another question.....should I be using DITHOR for the first grade level as well? She will still be having phonics instruction, so I'm not sure if DITHOR is for independent readers or read alouds.

Re: Q about BLHFHG???
DITHOR is for Independent readers after they have finished phonics and finished the emerging reader series. DITHOR takes the place of Phonics/Emerging Readers and is separate from the read aloud storytime.holyhart wrote:Yes thank you!![]()

Re: Q about BLHFHG???
One other thing,
, if you don't have one of the suggested Fantasy/Adventure/etc. titles, any similar reading level Fantasy/Adventure/etc. title will work just fine...

Re: Q about BLHFHG???
Ok, think I got it. One book from each genre. No DITHOR for now.
Thanks!
The hard part...we have multiple books from each genre and I want to read them all!!! How to choose???????

Re: Q about BLHFHG???
Tee, Hee, You can save some of them for when you get to DITHOR. Some of the books from Storytime, also show up on the Sample Book List from DITHOR. It's only $5. Make sure you order it when you get around to DITHOR. It's very helpful.holyhart wrote:Ok, think I got it. One book from each genre. No DITHOR for now.![]()
